Pocket Pictures by Craig McIntyre

I’m delighted to announce a new expo at the Roseleaf Bar & Cafe, 23/24 Sandport Place, Leith. The new exhibition titled Pocket Pictures features a selection of street photography taken over the last year. The exhibition runs from 5 March to 2 April 2015. Situated in Leith, the Roseleaf is a gem of a Bar / Cafe that not only serves great food and drink, the eclectic interior provides a great backdrop to showcase an ever evolving range of creative work. A big thank you to Jonny Kane for help in staging this event.

Low Def Strikes Back! by Craig McIntyre

I recently had the pleasure of attending an evening of short films at the Skylark, Portobello. Low Def, hosted by Paul Maguire, brings together a collective of filmmakers, each producing  a one minute video: fiction, documentary, experimental, fine art, video poem – or absolutely anything! I arrived half an hour before the night started and caught up with Paul (and his mac), busily compiling the material as it rolled in via email.

Now in its 5th year, Low Def has travelled the length of the country, bringing Paul’s creative vision and energy for filmmaking into community environments, meeting places and hubs where people can come together and take time out from their busy day and take a moment to stop and stare.

The night at Skylark was a great success. The films on offer, from techno sheep to a French tale set in Leith set the scene for a visually stunning event. I think the highlight for me had to be the most original and zaniest piece of film, fruit flies having sex in a bar in Amsterdam’s red light district – no shit, you gotta see it to believe!

I would also like to thank Sasha, one cool dude who brought some great banter to the table. I know Paul and Sasha are embarking on a new shoot, somewhere in Amsterdam and cannot wait to see their new work?

This is an annual event. Looking forward to getting a film in next time!

‘By the Sea’ exhibition opening by Craig McIntyre

Wow, what a fantastic opening at The Skylark, Portobello. We rocked up just before 5, joined by a few friends, taking in the vibe set by the gorgeous Nina Taris and staff of The Skylark. Not long after, we were joined by a great number of friendly faces and the space was quickly transformed into a real opening night’s party.

Nina and staff made such a huge effort in preparing the canapés and setting the ambience for the evening. The Skylark is such a valued part of our community and stages many creative events which is really put Portobello in the spotlight. It has to be said, that I really cannot thank everyone enough for taking time out of their weekend and giving their support to my opening exhibition. Without you, this would not be possible. I would also like to thank my good friend Paul Hollingworth for capturing the nights events www.ph-graphic.co.uk. All the imagery contained within this blog ©Paul Hollingworth. Thank you fella!

Goodstrife is gaining new kinship and we're looking forward collaborations with fellow creatives. Discussions are all ready in place for future projects which will be happening in the coming year.

All work is for sale, framed or unframed. If you are in the area, please pop into The Skylark: theskylarkportobello.com indulge in coffee and perhaps their famous croque monsieur. A comments book is also available, so please, if you can let me know your thoughts?
